Usually at this time of year, our biggest concern in Louisiana is hurricanes, how hot it is outside, and when is our next festival. Of course, all of that is pretty much out the window because we have coronavirus to throw in the mix in 2020. Ugh. But, it is still good to be able to keep up with emergency preparedness, and COVID-19 updates. Fortunately for us, the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is here to help.

The official state website is so much more than giving updates on hurricanes. They "work with local, State, Tribal and Federal authorities; private-sector partners; and private nonprofits (PNPs) so that we prepare for, prevent, respond to, recover from and mitigate against future emergencies and disasters." It pretty much streamlines everything we need to know that comes from the Governor's office, all in one place.

And there is even an entire section just devoted to updates on COVID-19. It includes recent news releases from the Department of Health, tips on social distancing, how to defend yourself against coronavirus, how to recognize the symptoms, and tips on navigating Medicaid and testing for coronavirus under the Federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act. It's a wealth of important and official information from the state.

There is also help on how to combat West Nile Virus with the "Fight the Bite" campaign, which you can see in the video below.

Y'all be safe out there. We'll get through this crisis together, as always.
