I don't know if "fallish" is an official weather term or even a word but I bet you know what I mean don't you. If Dave Baker is accurate and dependable like he usually is you will wake up in the morning with an extra spring in your step while you look for a jacket.

It's been a while since we've had temperatures drop into the low 60's and it will be a welcome relief from the overnight lows around 80 that we had during the height of the summer swelter. A cold front is expected to push through during the day today, it might spark off a shower or two then we will have a couple of clear cool mornings and some drier but warm afternoons.

The passage of this frontal system times out perfectly with the calendar since today is officially the final day of Summer. For those of you who must always be precise, Autumn officially arrives in Acadiana at 9:29 this evening, about the time the wind will begin to bring cooler temperatures into the area with the passing of that cold front.
