According to KLFY, the Ville Platte Police Dept. has launched a murder investigation after a body was found in a ditch Monday evening.

Authorities say that when they arrived on the scene Monday evening, they discovered an unidentified body in a ditch on Edward Knotoe Thomas Jr. Street in Ville Platte.

As of now, police haven't identified the body found, or if they have, no information has been released at this time.

Witnesses on the scene told police that they heard loud shots coming from down the street according to KLFY.

As of now, information is limited, but the situation is being investigated as a homicide.
