LCA Quarterback Ju’Juan Johnson Becomes Louisiana’s All-Time Leader in Career Offensive Yards

It was a special night on Friday for Lafayette Christian Academy quarterback Ju'Juan Johnson as he became the most prolific offensive player in the history of Louisiana high school football.

In last night's quarterfinal game against McDonogh 35, Johnson finished the game with 352 total yards of offensive and six total touchdowns. He came into the game needing 350 yards to break a 24-year-old LHSAA record, previously held by Evangel Christian Academy's Brock Berlin.

With last night's performance, Johnson now sits at 13,662 total yards of offense in his four-year career, making him the new LHSAA record holder all-time for career offensive yards.

Johnson is also just four touchdowns away from setting the all-time touchdown record in the state.

After LCA defeated McDonogh 35 by a final of 57-21 at home last night in the quarterfinals of the Division II Select playoffs, the school did something pretty cool to commemorate the historic achievement by the star quarterback.

LCA carries all their home games via streaming online through their Knight Vision TV. And towards the end of last night's broadcast, you can see exactly what unfolded in a post-game presentation.

As you can see in the video, the announcer runs through a bit of history about Johnson and his career at LCA. And as you can imagine, to garner those gaudy statistics, you usually have to play a lot of games, and that is exactly what happened in Johnson's case.

A season-ending injury to LCA's starting quarterback in game one of Johnson's freshman year prompted the coaches to put him in. The rest, as they say, is history.

Congrats Ju'Juan Johnson on this amazing accomplishment.

Of course, Johnson will be playing on Saturdays just down the road in Baton Rouge as he committed a few months back to the LSU Tigers.

His high school career continues, however, as his Knights will host the Teurlings Catholic Rebels on Friday, December 1st at Knight Stadium in the semifinals. The winner moves on to play for the State Championship the following weekend at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans against the winner of STM and Archbishop Shaw.

LCA will go into Friday's game heavily favored over their District 4-4A foes. Earlier this season, LCA dominated Teurlings by a final of 62-3.
