113 people, and three dogs were rescued yesterday at the Louisiana Mud Fest in Colfax, when a levee broke around 2:00 am. This festival is billed as one of the 'Wildest in the South', and is traditionally a fun filled weekend with all terrain vehicles, motorbikes, and trucks. The levee was breached around 2:00 am, and thankfully no one was hurt, in what could have been a disaster for this fun event. NBC affiliate KALB in Alexandria reported that 'a deputy working security Saturday night noticed a crack in the levee and began moving people to higher ground. Within moments, the levee breached, and the Red River began flowing into the festival.' We are happy that everyone is safe, because this is a great family event, and it could have been much worse.
