We're born in Louisiana. We love Louisiana. We don't move out of Louisiana. I mean, you can't really get good boudin and gumbo anywhere else, so why WOULD we leave?

In a recent study done by the New York Times, data shows Louisiana has the highest percentage of residents born in-state than of any of the other of the 49 states and Washington, D.C.

In a 2012 survey, a whopping 79 percent of Louisiana residents were born in Louisiana. That's basically 4 out of every 5 people. Close behind us is Michigan, where 77 percent of its residents were born in state. Mississippi and Alabama weren't far behind, with 72 percent and 70 percent, respectively.
