A ticket sold in Louisiana for Tuesday's Mega Millions multi-state lottery drawing has made the purchaser of that ticket an instant millionaire, times two. We are still waiting on details from our sources with the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge but we have confirmed through our sources with Mega Millions someone in Louisiana just had their life changed.

Tuesday's Mega Millions game featured an annuitized estimated top prize of $421 million. Mega Millions is the "lesser" of the two multi-state lottery games available to Louisiana players. I say "lesser" because the game is newer in the state and in its brief history in the state of Louisiana has never produced a jackpot winner.

Still, it's pretty obvious there are lottery players in Louisiana who like Mega Millions. Here is how last night's drawing, May 21, 2024, unfolded.

The numbers that were produced by the bouncing balls were:

02   05   08   28   69   Mega Ball 14   Megaplier  x2

There was no jackpot winner from last night so the Mega Millions top prize will increase to an estimated $453 million when the game holds its next drawing on Friday night.

Meanwhile, there were two Match 5 Million winners sold for last night. One was in California, the other was sold right here in Louisiana. The ticket's purchaser opted for the Megaplier option so their one million dollar prize is "times 2".

As of this report, the Louisiana Lottery has not released point-of-purchase information on the $2 million winner. We expect that to come later this morning and we will update that information as it becomes available.

Wednesday's Powerball drawing will be for a cool $100 million tonight. That's the estimated annuitized jackpot amount. If you win and want your money in a lump sum payout you'd get $47 million before the tax man got his share.

Remember, most lottery tickets are not winners so spend only what you can afford to lose. If you or a loved one has a gambling problem please call 1-877-770-STOP. Good Luck.
