The eighth-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Thursday night, when they play travel to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Auburn Tigers in the opening game of a three-game, SEC baseball series.

The conference series marks the final three games of the regular season for LSU, who currently sit in third place in the SEC West, one game behind second place Mississippi St., and two games behind first place Ole Miss.

The Tigers, who defeated Northwestern St., 27-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday night, will come in at 37-14-1, overall, and 14-11-1 in SEC play.

Auburn, who defeated UAB., 6-5, in non-conference action on Tuesday night, is currently 27-25, overall, and 10-17 in league play.

That 10-17 league mark puts Auburn in last place in the SEC West, seven games behind first-place Ole Miss.

LSU is currently hitting a .278 as a team, along with 30 home runs, 290 runs batted in, and 40 stolen bases. The Tigers are led, offensively, by Andrew Stevenson, who is hitting a .344, and Conner Hale, who is hitting a .307.

Auburn is currently hitting a .274 as a team, along with 14 home runs, 208 runs batted in, and 79 stolen bases. The Tigers are Jordan Ebert Damek Tonscha, who are hitting a .356 and a .325, respectively.

Pitching-wise, LSU brings brings in a 2.58 team earned run average into the series, with right-hander Aaron Nola, who will start on Thursday night, leading the way, with a 8-1 record, and an ERA. of 1.43. Jared Poche (7-3, 2.55) and Alden Cartwright (1-1, 2.25) are the two other likely starters.

Auburn, who currently has an overall 3.09 ERA., is paced by freshman right-hander Keegan Thompson, as well as senior right-hander Dillon Ortman, who both have an ERA. of 2.01.

LSU ranks tenth in the SEC in hitting, and fifth in pitching, while Auburn ranks seventh in both hitting and pitching.

Game times are 6 pm on Thursday night, 6 pm on Friday night, and 1 o’clock on Saturday afternoon.
