Lottery players in Louisiana, just as lottery players in Texas and Mississippi are doing are waking up this morning and going to their jobs. One of the reasons we are all waking up and participating in our gainful employment opportunities is that we didn't win last night's Mega Millions lottery top prize of over one billion dollars.

No one did. But that doesn't mean the game didn't produce some big-money winners. We'll get to those prizes after you take a look at how last night's drawing unfolded.

The Mega Millions website confirms the numbers drawn for August 1, 2023, were:

08   24   30   45   61   Mega Ball 12    Megaplier  x4

The Mega Millions site also confirmed that were six tickets sold across the game's footprint that won one million dollars by matching all five of the white balls but not the gold Mega Ball.

There was a Match 5 with Megaplier that was sold in Texas. That ticket because the purchaser opted-in on the Megaplier is worth $4,000,000 this morning. Texas Lottery officials confirm the point of purchase for the big-money winner was the Hoover Valley Country Store in Burnet Texas.

Texas Lottery officials also confirmed that lottery players in the Lone Star State also bought 14 tickets that are worth $10,000 this morning and another five tickets worth $40,000. The purchasers of those tickets matched four of the five white balls to win the $10,000 and those who won the prize of $40,000 opted-in on the Megaplier when they too matched four of five.

Louisiana Lottery officials cannot confirm any prizes won in the state that are greater than $10,000 this morning. But we do know there were two $10,000 winners sold in Louisiana for last night's Mega Millions game.

We know that one of the $10,000 winners was sold in Slidell, Louisiana at the Time Saver on Gause Boulevard. The other $10,000 winner was sold in Youngsville, Louisiana at Jac's Market and Deli #4 on Verot School Road.  In both cases, the holders of those tickets will need to contact the nearest Louisiana Lottery office to arrange payment for their prize.

Since there was no jackpot winner the Mega Millions top prize is expected to grow to $1.25 billion for Friday's drawing. That is the annuitized amount if you opted for the lump sum payment you'd be looking at $625.3 million before the tax man reaches in for his share of your good fortune.

Tonight the Powerball game will attempt to get a winner for its $95 million dollar jackpot. The Lotto Game in Louisiana is also needing a jackpot winner. That game's top prize hasn't been won since the first week in May and the jackpot currently stands at $1.25 million dollars. The Easy 5 game which got a winner last week will have a top prize of $60,000.

Remember most lottery tickets purchased are not winners so you have to choose to play responsibly. If you need help with a gambling problem it is available by calling 1-877-770 STOP (7867). The call is free and the referral to a counselor is free too. Good Luck.
