This Memorial Day weekend, there are quite a few events happening around Acadiana for us to pay tribute to the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Here is a list of Memorial Day events happening across Acadiana.

Duson Memorial Day Ceremony

There will be a Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 120 VFW Road, Duson, at the Memorial Wall located at the Post Home.  The guest speaker will be Rep. Clay Higgins (R, LA).
SUNDAY, MAY 28, 2017

Crowley Memorial Day Program

A Crowley Memorial Day program will be held at the Rice Theater, 323 N. Parkerson Avenue, Crowley, on May 28 at 3 p.m.

Breaux Bridge Memorial Day Ceremony

The Breaux Bridge American Legion Post 133 will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Home, 300 Veterans Drive, Breaux Bridge, on Monday May 29 beginning at 11:00 a.m.   For more informaiton contact Missy Courville at 337-349-7085
Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery Memorial Day Service

Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery, 2111 W. Pinhook Road, Lafayette, will host a Memorial Day Service Monday, May 29, at 3:00 p.m. Rep. Clay Higgins (R, LA) is the keynote speaker. For more information call 337-235-3092

Paragon Casino Annual Memorial Day Ceremony 
Officials of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, Paragon Casino Resort and veterans organizations throughout Central Louisiana extend an invitation to all veterans, their family members, and the general public to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 29 at the Veterans Monument at the corner of Slim Lemoine Land and  LA Hwy 1. The ceremony will include the presenting of arms by the Avoyelles Parish Honor Guard.

Refreshments will be served immediately follow the ceremony.

All veterans and active military personnel who present a military ID to the Preferred Players Club receive a voucher for a free buffet valid on Memorial Day. Limit one per person.
Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery Annual Memorial Day Program

Monday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m. Fountain Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1010 Pandora Street, in the Veteran Section of the Cemetery.The program will feature a motorcycle procession by The Patriot Guard Riders, various Veteran Honor Guards marching in full regale, Lt. Col. Richard Hanes, a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard, as the speaker, and many patriotic musical selections, sung by Karen Broussard. The event is open to the public; lawn chairs are welcome. The service lasts approximately one hour. A reception will be held with cake and punch, under the pavilion following the service. Jennings Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony 

Frank Thibodeaux American Legion Post/Unit 520 is once again sponsoring the Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Jennings on Monday, May 29, 2017 starting with the parade at 5:00 p.m. The parade will start on the corner of West Division and Main Street, turn east on Park Street, west on Parkview, north on Ozema Street then proceed east on Peters Street. Anyone interested in participating in the parade may contact the following parade representatives for information: Don Hall 337-368-5651, Inez Henry 337-246-0961, Antoine Lewis 337-368-2430, or Connie Dartez 337-370-0999.  The ceremony will be held at the Pavillion immediately following the parade at the Marcus Cain Memorial Park.

Church Point Memorial Day Display

On behalf of the VFW Post 9903 and American Legion Post 225, the public is invited to the Church Point Depot, in the middle of town on the corner of Main St. and POW/MIA Blvd, this Memorial Day weekend May 27, 28 and 29. From sunrise to sunset they will have a display to honor 20 fallen heroes from Church Point.
