The unranked Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-0) walked into Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge Saturday night as a 9 point underdog. They walked out with a 34-29 victory over #8 LSU.

The Tigers (3-1) didn't score an offensive touchdown until the 4th quarter, struggling to find a rhythm through the first 3 quarters.

The Bulldog front 7 dominated LSU's run game, holding the Tigers to 89 yards rushing and a paltry 2.5 yard average.

Starting LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings was sacked 3 times, completing only 50% of his passes (13-26) for 157 yards.

Mississippi State's offense was potent with the big play. Led by starting quarterback Dak Prescott, a native of Louisiana, the Bulldogs accumulated 10 plays of 20 or more yards, including plays of 74, 66, 56, and 44 yards.

Prescott finished with 268 yards and 2 touchdowns passing, while rushing for another 105 and a score.

The Tigers trailed 17-3 at halftime, but scored a defensive touchdown early in the third quarter when Danielle Hunter took advantage of a Prescott fumble with a 25 yard scoop and score.

With Mississippi State leading 34-10 to begin the 4th quarter, LSU scored their first offensive touchdown on a Kenny Hilliard run with 12:34 left, and somehow managed to make the last few minutes in Tiger stadium interesting.

LSU backup quarterback Brandon Harris, who entered the game with 3:43 left in regulation, hooked up with Malachi Dupree on a 31-yard score, but the two point conversion failed. Down 12, LSU attempted an onside kick but the Bulldogs recovered.

However, Mississippi State lined up in the shotgun and a bad snap gave LSU the ball back. With another late touchdown (their second in a 28 second span), the Tigers only trailed 34-29 with 87 seconds left and two timeouts.

Another onside kick and another Bulldog recovery led to LSU using their final 2 timeouts and getting the ball at their own 20 after a Mississippi State 3 and out. The comeback fell short as Harris' last second hail mary heave was intercepted by the Bulldogs in the end zone, ending the game.

Despite the crazy finish, the Bulldogs dominated most of the night, gaining 570 total yards against an LSU defense that hadn't allowed a point in 31 straight possessions heading into Saturday night's game.

With the victory, Mississippi State ends their 14 game losing streak to LSU, who had won 21 of the last 22 versus the Bulldogs before tonight.
