This is, hands down, my favorite time of the year. Thanksgiving and Christmas just bring a certain feel to my house. It may sound strange, but there is a warmth to the house around this time. However, there is also a little bit more crazy. Mama and Daddy are running around trying to make sure everything is ready for each meal.

The Christmas tree, the smell of apple cinnamon, family all around, and the food! This is the perfect combination in my book. I know what it means when Mama goes grocery shopping a few days before the holiday. So when I opened the pantry, I was really opening the treasure chest. My eyes were blessed when I saw all of the fixings for her green bean casserole. I love me some good turkey, but I cannot go without that casserole.

When I fix my plate for Thanksgiving, half of my plate is taken up by green bean casserole and there has always been something about the way Mama makes her's. However, my extremely smart self (obviously) never thought to ask what made it so good. So I decided to ask mom if there was anything special she did when she made it and her answer really shocked me. Are you ready for this...?

The recipe on the FRENCH'S® Fried Onions can! Yes, I couldn't believe it either. I have never been one to really follow recipes. I usually just throw in what looks good and hope it comes out edible. Well friends, this is one recipe I will be following from now on. If you haven't tried it, you might think to be adventurous and give it a try. According to Frenchs.com, this is the recipe:

  • 1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1/8 tsp. of black pepper
  • 4 cups of cooked cut green beans
  • 1 1/3 cups of FRENCH'S® Original or Cheddar French Fried Onions (Mom uses the original)

One more thing. The best part about hosting family holidays at our house has to be the leftovers. And let me tell ya, that green bean casserole is just as good the second time around!

Happy Holidays Dawgs!
