Monopoly Announces Three New Game Pieces, Drops Three Classic Pieces

Earlier this year, Hasbro announced that they were going to make some big changes to Monopoly's game pieces. Some of the classic pieces were going to get the boot and replaced with new ones.

The whole thing was put to a vote and the results are in. Three of the classics are getting taken out and three new ones will replace them.

Monopoly is getting rid of the thimble, wheelbarrow and the boot. The new tokens replacing them are a T-Rex, a rubber ducky and a penguin.

Who voted for that?!?

The old school pieces that survived the voting are the Scottie dog, top hat, car, cat and battleship. We use the term "old school" loosely because the cat has only been around since 2013 when it replaced the iron.

It sure seems like folks weren't really ready for anything too modern with the new selections. Some of the other possible tokens that didn't get enough votes included a hashtag sign, four different emoji faces, a thumps up, a cell phone and a NASCAR race car.
