Nathaniel Marston, the One Life to Live star who was involved in a devastating car accident last month, has succumbed to his injuries, that according to his mother via a Facebook post last night. He was 40.

As you may recall, the crash happened outside of Reno, Nevada on October 30 and left the soap opera star with back injuries, his neck broken in several places along with other internal injuries including a collapsed lung.

The prognosis was not good. He underwent surgery on November 4, but it did not go as planned. He was left in critical condition, fighting pneumonia, a heart infection and irregular pulse. Doctors had said he would have likely lived out his life as a quadriplegic.

Marston played Eddie Silva on As the World Turns, earning a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination as Outstanding Male Newcomer. He picked up another nomination for his role as Michael McBain on One Life to Live. He left that soap in 2007.

Below is the Facebook post from his mom late last night. She had been keeping everyone updated on his condition via the social media platform.
