The old Walmart on the Evangeline Thruway may be getting new life.

According to The Advocate, a company is planning to purchase the old retail facility and bring new jobs.

The business planning to acquire the old Walmart is called Completeful and they are quite familiar with Lafayette: they currently operate 3 separate facilities here. The story goes on to say that the company will be consolidating its 3 facilities into one: the old Walmart building on the Evangeline Thruway near Willow.

Completeful is a shipping business, with a current payroll of around 100 people. After the acquisition/consolidation, the company plans to hire an additional 100 employees, according to the story in The Advocate.

The old Walmart has been empty since the new Walmart was opened in Carencro.

If this deal goes through it will be great for Lafayette and for those who are able to gain employment there.
