Lately, there hasn't been much great news to talk about in regards to Louisiana industry. That is, until now. News has just been released announcing the construction of a new offshore mega port to be built in Plaquemines Parish that could bring about 20,000 jobs to the area.

The  offshore mega port will be called the "Louisiana International Deep Water Gulf Transfer Terminal" and will be built three miles off the coast of Plaquemines Parish near Venice. The port will be the first of it's kind in the U.S.

The cost to build it is estimated at around $25 million, which is all being paid for by private funding. The mega port is said to be built by late August 2016.

The offshore mega port will house thousands of dry and liquid bulk containers.

More money and business being pumped into the Louisiana economy is fantastic news. Officials say the port will make a monumental impact on the entire region and state.
