As more and more information is brought to the forefront about the Ebola virus, more and more public health agencies are taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the disease. Such is the case in the New Orleans area where a 21 year old man is currently being monitored for signs of the virus.

The man, who was not named, recently traveled to that part of the world where the Ebola virus has been most prevalent. The man did not report any contact with anyone stricken with the virus but still agreed to be quarantined in his own home for 21 days as a precaution.

Health officials believe the man to be a very low risk for Ebola. The self isolation is being done voluntarily  and with cooperation from state health officials. So far no cases of Ebola have been reported in Louisiana. Many government agencies and health care providers are proceeding with precautionary plans just in case Ebola is detected or needs to be treated in Louisiana.
