Some of my favorite places here in Acadiana are what a lot of people might not consider tourist destinations, but they are fun and fascinating for me, all the same. Today, I'm taking you to some of my comfort spots in beautiful St Landry Parish.

I love to go to local grocery stores, because they always have the best regional products, and things you can't get anywhere else. I recently made a stop in Port Barre at Bourques Supermarket for their world famous jalapeno, cheese, and sausage bread. You might be able to get that somewhere else, but the original is right here!

Sunset, LA is also one of my most fave destinations. They are on the Corridor de Arts, which connects Sunset, Grand Coteau, Arnaudville, and Henderson. Corridor des Arts features Tax Free Shopping, when purchasing original art. I love to peruse the Funky Flea, Jerilyn's Fused  Glass Art Gallery , and the Sunset Antique barn for great local art, tax free. Sunset also has one of my favorite grocery stores - Janise's - where they have an abundance of specialty seasoned meats, a great bakery and deli, and local seasonings. If you want some delish teas and pastries, try Le Petit Gateau - LOVE the white chocolate cranberry pecan cookie - to die for! Sunset is also home to the 7 Mile Yard Sale, which is semi annual, and is held on Highways 93 & 182.

Eunice has a special place in my heart, because they have SO MANY great restaurateurs, smoke houses, meat markets, and grocery stores - a treasure trove for locals and tourists alike! I love to visit Cafe Mosaic, on 2nd St., which is located in an old drugstore and men's store from around the 1900's.

The Cajun Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a wonderful destination - really cajun, really Louisiana, and the lovely ladies that work in the museum are AWESOME! And the best part about the museum - it's free to get in! (But of course, they always take donations). If you are looking for a sweet treat while cruising Eunice - be sure to check out Ray's Bakery, they've  been in business for over 50 years for a good reason ya'll!

If boudin, tasso and specialty meats is what you're looking for, (and who isn't?!) then make a stop at T - Boys Boudin in Eunice and Mamou. The smell alone. when you walk in, will remind you of why people come from all over the world to eat here in south Louisiana! And did I mention how much I love their stuffed tasso raost?!

I'll be traveling all around Acadiana, and bringing you some of my favorites places to stop off, that are usually off the beaten path, but still so wonderful. It's what we love about Acadiana, isn't it? And don't forget to let me know where YOUR favorite local places are! - I might just come visit.
