Opelousas Native Donald Reed Moves to Next Round of ‘American Idol’, Lafayette’s Ben Boone Out
Good news and bad news for a couple of aspiring singers on American Idol last night. Opelousas native Donald Reed moved on to the next step, group rounds. UL student Ben Boone saw his chance at becoming America’s next Idol come to an end as he was eliminated from the competition.
In the first portion of the Hollywood shows, neither of the two young men appeared on the televised portion of last night’s show.
Reed is 26 years old and works for a funeral home in Opelousas.
“You know, this was years in the making,” Reed told The Daily Advertiser. “This is a show we have watched since we were kids. We all had the same dream of becoming the next American Idol. It was just a dream come true.”
Hollywood rounds continue tonight at 7pm. We’ll keep you all up to speed on how Donald Reed does in the competition the rest of the way.
