Writer Jackie Collins passed away on Saturday. She was 77.

Her family says the cause of death was breast cancer. She was diagnosed back in 2007 but kept it quiet.

Jackie was one of the most successful writers of the 21st century. She sold more than 500 million copies.

She published more than 30 books since her debut in 1968. Most of them were romance novels.

Her older sister, actress Joan Collins, said, "She was my best friend. I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her."

Ironically, in the late '70s, Joan starred in two very sexy movies based on Jackie's books, The [B-word] and The Stud.

Collins is survived by three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.
