One person suffered only minor injuries after the airplane he was piloting crashed at the Acadiana Regional Airport in Iberia Parish.

According to Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, emergency responders received a call from the airport Saturday afternoon at about 3:10 p.m. Officials said the small single-engine aircraft crashed west of the runway.

The 72-year-old pilot from California, Thomas Belisle, was traveling from an airshow in Florida to visit friends in New Iberia, Ackal said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
