The Eat Lafayette campaign is in full swing, encouraging all of us to dine at the many one-of-a-kind, locally owned restaurants in the Hub City.

I had the great honor and privilege of dining at one of the finest restaurants in all of Lafayette -- Social Southern Table & Bar.

You may have passed this beautiful restaurant on Johnston St and thought "that place looks like it would be good". Well, let me tell you, it is!

From the moment you walk in the door, you'll be amazed at the elegant yet unique decor. The staff is fantastic and the food may be even better.

Some of the highlights of their menu include the wonderful flatbreads, smoky fried chicken, to their out-of-this world mac 'n cheese. Oh, I'd be remisced if I didn't encourage you to save room for some dessert. Their warm cookies and cereal milk is some kind of delicious!

The bar features some unique specialty drinks in addition to an amazing wine and craft beer selection. There is even a walk-in cooler in the restaurant that houses much of the liquor choices.

But above all, the real coup de gras of Social Southern Table & Bar is the fact that they prepare almost all of their ingredients in-house. The fare is always as fresh as possible, so much so that there is a garden on the restaurant's property. Now, you don't see that very often!

Bottom line, if you have yet to try Social, you should. It's all about friends and family and you will feel like you're part of their family once you leave.
