I am beginning to think my house is a fortress for stray cats. Every time I turn around there is a new one popping up in the drive way or on the hood of one of the cars. And of course I cannot resist wanting to take them all in.

I have to remind myself that I am not the crazy cat lady and I can't conceivably shelter them all. I do, however, like to make sure they are taken care of. About three months ago, we took in two baby strays that walked up to the house after a rain storm and we knew they didn't have their Mama with them. So we bottle fed them and kept them warm until they were ready to roam free again.

I think the cycle may be repeating itself. This week, we came across a Mama cat and her two babies in the yard. One of the babies had a nub for a tail (too cute!) and we couldn't resist helping them. So we have been putting out food for them to eat, especially since it is starting to get colder. Even my dad, who isn't big on giving attention to stray animals, has taken a liking to them.

I know that many people get irritated seeing stray cats everywhere and want nothing to do with them. This is understandable because once you start feeding them, they keep coming back. They may know how to take care of themselves, but they sometimes tend to put themselves in sticky situations.

So if you have strays in your area, before you get into your vehicle, make sure to give your hood a good bang or two. Strays like to sleep on top of tires and under cars to try and keep warm. The last thing you want to be doing is cleaning up that 'mess' before work.

Just another friendly reminder for your animal enthusiast!
