(July 25, 2013) — Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night, July 23, in the 700 block of Third Street in Duson.

A caller to 911 reported that several shots had been fired in that area.

Deputies say they found a 34-year-old male victim had been shot twice with a high powered rifle.  The victim was shot once in the hip and once in the leg.  Authorities say his injuries were not life threatening.

The victim says that he was standing outside of his home on Third Street when a car pulled up with several men in it.

He says a back seat passenger got out of the car and began firing at the victim.
