What are your necessities when packing for a trip? They would probably be shorts, shirts, under garments, shoes, and toiletries, correct? The answer would be yes, if you are a man.

I have always wondered why I find it necessary to pack so much in my suitcase and why my parents can share a bag. While packing for my beach trip a few weeks back, I got a little worried that all of my things wouldn't fit in the small bag I was given. When I walked into my parents bedroom, my mom and dad were sharing a bag (mom's thing took up 3/4 of the bag and the rest was for dad). So the question is, why do we as women pack so much?

Here is my logic behind packing.

Clothing: I take into account how many days and nights I will be away from home. I then pack enough shirts and shorts for each day (including cover ups if I'm going to the beach). Next, I grab all of the undergarments in my drawer (I am a crazy person about that kind of stuff). If I am going near water, I pack at least two bathing suits. Of course there will be nights where I need to dress up so I bring two or three possible outfits.

Shoes: All of the outfits I have so far must have shoes to go with them. If I am wearing a casual outfit (t-shirt and shorts) I can wear simple flip flop with all of them. However, dress up clothes must have matching and appropriate shoes.

Toiletries: The list includes toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, make up, feminine supplies if needed, brushes, hair products including blow dryer, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, and lotion.

Extras (there are always extras): If I realized I passed up a shirt, dress, or pair of shorts that I just have to bring I will throw it in the bag. If there are extra toiletries I think I may (probably won't) need, they go in the bag as well. I will also pack my tablet, charger, and headphones. Jewelry is a must have as well.

I know I know I sound like I am going overboard. However, I am OCD when it comes to taking trips. This is because I know I would want to stupid stamp myself if I forgot even one small thing. I always have to make sure I am prepared for changes in plans and any 'oopsies.'

Guys, from what I have seen you always bring just enough to get you by and you are ready to go. I wish my brain could work like that. Maybe one day...but probably not.

If you are traveling this summer, have a safe trip and think of me while you are there!

And if none of this makes any sense to you, this should sum it all up.
