The near future for Bayou Country Superfest is up in the air after LSU announced that Tiger Stadium is taking a break for the next two years from hosting the country music festival.

The school announced that the reason for the hold on the event comes as a series of planned offseason enhancements are being made to the stadium, thus disabling the venue from hosting the event.

Tiger Stadium is set to undergo renovations and updates to concession stands, bathrooms as well as other venue improvements which will take place during the off season following the 2016 and 2017 football seasons.

Bayou Country Superfest has been held at Tiger Stadium since the event's inception in 2010.

“It’s been a great event for our community, LSU and Tiger Stadium,” vice chancellor and director of athletics Joe Alleva said. “We are in a position where we have to make these necessary improvements to Tiger Stadium and the only time that we can do this is during the off season.”

“We thank Joe Alleva and everyone at LSU for being such welcoming hosts for seven years of the Bayou Country Superfest, and for helping create an event that has drawn hundreds of thousands of fans from across the country to Baton Rouge to celebrate Memorial Day weekend,” Quint Davis, Producer/Director of Bayou Country Superfest, said. “We’ll explore alternatives to keep presenting what has become one of the biggest annual country music festivals in the South.  In the meantime, Go Tigers!”

If we had our way here in Lafayette, we'd suggest moving that puppy on over to Cajun Field!
