The 2013 hurricane season is less than a week old and already a named system has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Tropical Storm Andrea formed in the Gulf this afternoon. As right now the storm will pose very little threat to the Louisiana coast but could be a big rainmaker for parts of Florida, Georgia and along the Eastern Seaboard.

The latest information from the Hurricane Center indicates that Andrea is a minimal Tropical Storm. The forecast track does bring the center ashore between Panama City Florida and Tampa Florida. Most of that area is currently under a Tropical Storm warning. While portions of the East coast of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are under a Tropical Storm Watch.
