Just as soon as we were informed that Tropical Storm Erika had basically met her match with unfavorable conditions over Cuba, we got word that another tropical system was forming in the Atlantic. That tropical system is named Fred and it is right along the coast of Africa.

The prospects for Fred as far as affecting the United States or any land mass are minimal.  The current run of spaghetti models suggest that Mother Nature will keep Fred out to sea for its existence. That will be a good thing, unless the system turns back to the east affects Europe.

The prospects for the disturbed weather once known as Erika are not that much better. Currently the National Hurricane Center is giving what was once Erika a 30% chance over the next five days of regenerating into a tropical cyclone of some description.  Chances are it will just a be a huge rain event for Florida and portions of the Southeastern United States over the next week.
