As holidays in Louisiana go, Easter is one of the quieter ones in the state. Maybe it's our Catholic reverence for the symbolism and meaning of the season, or maybe we're still just a little hungover from St Patrick's Day or Mardi Gras. For some reason, folks just seem to get along better at Easter than they do over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Maybe it is the peace of the season or the fact that we can get outside and go do things in the warmer weather. Maybe that's the reason. Sociologists will tell you that the holiday season is one of the more stressful times to be a human in the United States. Maybe it's because the Easter Holiday is Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday, only three days folks don't feel as pressured to make a cross-country journey.

But there still is an expectation that comes from kids of all ages when they start to wonder what goodies the Easter Bunny might be bringing them. For many parents, the idea of sugary treats ingested by their offspring is not a best practice before going to Easter Services at church.

And then some older kids still enjoy being remembered by the Easter Bunny but don't want all the chocolate and candy. At least they don't want it while Mom and Dad are looking but as soon as you turn your back that bite-size Kit Kat will be gone.
