11-Year-Old in Crowley Severely Injured By Hit-and-Run Driver While Riding Bicycle
An 11-year-old was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle and severely injured while riding his bicycle on Sunday afternoon in Crowley.
According to Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard, police were called to the intersection of S. Avenue O around 2:00 pm. Once there, the 11-year-old was found conscious and breathing but severely injured after being hit by a car, which then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Broussard said the child was riding the new bicycle that he just received on Christmas Day.
There were several witnesses that reported the make and model of the suspect's vehicle, and from that, a person of interest is being sought.
Anyone with any further information is still asked to contact Crowley Police Department. The driver of the vehicle faces negligent injuring charges along with felony hit and run charges.
The child was initially taken to a local hospital but was later airlifted to a New Orleans hospital for further treatment.
