
These $1 Bills From 2014-2016 are Worth Up to $150,000
LOUISIANA (KMDL-FM) - These days with everything continuing to get more expensive, we're all looking for ways to keep our financial trains from going off of the tracks. One way people are finding extra money right now is with coin and bill collecting.
While there are a handful of $1 bills commanding some good money to collectors right now, there are a couple of $1 bills printed in 2014 and 2016 that some collectors are paying between $20,000 and $150,000 for.
Valuable $1 Dollar Bills
While some of these valuable $1 are pretty old and are going to be harder to find than others, there are a few floating around you actually have a decent chance to chance if you know what to look for.
According to AOL.com, some of most valuable $1 bills are from the late 1800s, but there are some more recently printed bills that are actually bringing in the most money from collectors.

For example, an 1890 $1 note featuring Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of War Edwin Stanton.

The notes feature Stanton's portrait on the front and bold green coloring on the reverse. There are several versions with slight variations in features like the seal. Though well-preserved or uncirculated versions have been known to sell for more, even bills with a little wear and tear can go for more than $500.

A more recent bill, a 1923 Washington $1 bill in great shape, can sell for as much $1,200.
However, there are some pretty recent $1 bills floating around that are currently selling for major bucks.

If you're looking for the big bucks, you want to look for these $1 bills printed in 2014 and 2016. Collectors are buying these up for between $20,000 and $150,000 depending on condition.

OK, so what makes these so valuable?

In both 2014 and 2016, the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing reportedly sent the same request to two different printing facilities and as a result, dollars were printed with duplicate serial numbers. To identify the dollars, look for serial numbers that end with a star and fall between B00000001* and B00250000* or B03200001 and B09600000*. The pairs that are known to exist are estimated to be worth between $20k and $150k.
