
2014 College Football Top 25 Poll Released, Breakdown And Results Here
The USA TODAY/Coaches top 25 preseason college football poll has been released, and defending champion Florida State comes in at #1. The Seminoles received 56 first-place votes. Alabama received zero first-place votes, but ranks up at #2 to start the season. Third-place is Oklahoma, who received 3 first-place votes, followed by Oregon at #4, who received a single first-place vote.
National champion runner-up Auburn rounds out the top 5. Other schools receiving one first place vote include #6 Ohio State and #9 South Carolina.
LSU is #13, followed by their season-opening opponent Wisconsin at #14.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun football team didn't make the preseason top 25, but aren't too far outside of it when looking at the vote numbers. The Cajuns received 12 votes.
The vote point system is conducted with each voter submitting a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and each vote following suit, all the way down to one point for 25th.
If looking at the rankings of schools outside the top 25 with the most votes, the Cajuns would come in at #40, 15 slots outside of the top 25.
