UPDATE - KATC reports the suspect, 21-year-old Dakota Theriot has been apprehended.

Theriot was reportedly found in Richmond County, Virginia Sunday morning (01/27/19) and arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

He will be transported back to Ascension Parish and booked on "two counts of first-degree murder, home invasion, and illegal use of weapons" according to KATC.

Louisiana authorities say five people are dead and a manhunt is underway to find the suspect who is on the run, armed and dangerous.

KATC reports the shootings happened earlier today (1/26/19) in Ascension and Livingston parishes. Three victims were shot and killed in Livingston Parish, and two victims were shot and killed in Ascension Parish.

The Ascension Parish victims are identified as Elizabeth and Keith Theriot, both 51. The Livingston Parish victims are identified as Billy Ernest, Tanner Ernest, and Summer Ernest.

The suspect on the run is 21-year-old Dakota Theriot, son of the Livingston Parish victims.

Authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous. He was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup, gray and silver in color.

It is believed that the shootings in the two parishes are connected and investigators from both jurisdictions are working together.
