60's Teen and Pop superstar Annette Funicello has died at the age of 70. Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a very vocal  spokesperson for treatment of the disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, according to Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green.

Anyone who grew up in the 60's  was absolutely in love with the former Mickey Mouse Club member - who later went on to star in several wildly popular beach movies with her male counterpart - Frankie Avalon. Annette was a superstar in her generation, and will be missed not only for her great smile, but her incredible resilience to her horrible disease. We'll miss you, Annette!
