Louisiana Getting Tulsa King Spinoff NOLA King

NEW ORLEANS, La. (KMDL-FM) - Tulsa King fans were quite surprised with the last two episodes of Season 3 when Samuel L. Jackson appeared in the role of hit man Russell Lee Washington Jr.

As quickly as Jackson's character appeared he was gone, and claimed he was "going back to New Orleans".

Now we know why Jackson's character was heading to the Big Easy with the announcement of the first spinoff series from the wildly successful Tulsa King, NOLA King.

What Is NOLA King?

It has recently been revealed that Samuel L. Jackson will star in NOLA King, a spinoff of Tulsa King. The new series will focus on Jackson's character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., expanding the criminal-drama universe established by Tulsa King down to New Orleans, Louisiana.

NOLA King will actually be the first time Samuel L. Jackson will assume a leading role in a TV series, which gives us some idea of how serious Tulsa King producers are about this spinoff.

Who Is Russell Lee Washington Jr.?

Samuel L. Jackson's character Russell Lee Washington Jr. was introduced in the last 2 episodes of Tulsa King. Russell Lee Washington Jr. was once the mob's go-to hit man and got to be close friends with Sylvester Stallone's character Dwight Manfredi while the two served time in prison.

The character of Russell Lee Washington Jr. was introduced on Tulsa King after he was hired to kill Manfredi. Instead, Washington reconnected with his old prison friend, ultimately deciding to not killing him and heading back to his home town, New Orleans.

NOLA King Release Date

NOLA King was officially green-lit in mid-2025. As of now, there is no confirmed release date, but reports suggest filming could begin around early February, 2026.
