7 Tigers And 2 Cajuns Selected In The NFL Draft
The great offseason show is over. Now comes the second guessing. It's what NFL fans do after the annual NFL Draft. Many people feel the New Orleans Saints had just a slightly above average draft class for the coming season. Of course, only time will tell if the new Saints will be a boon or a bust for the Black and Gold.
The NFL Draft was actually quite prosperous for fans of the LSU Tigers. The Tigers had seven total players taken in the annual selection showcase. Only Alabama, I know why does it have to be Alabama, had more players taken with twelve. Ohio State and North Carolina State also had seven players selected in the draft
Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns placed two players on NFL rosters via the draft. Tracy Walker was taken by Detroit in the third round of the draft. Simeon Thomas was taken by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the draft.
Of course, not getting drafted isn't necessarily the end of the road for players that weren't taken. LSU reportedly has eight players and there could be more that have already inked undrafted free agent deals.
Other state schools were represented in the draft as well. Boston Scott of Louisiana Tech was picked by New Orleans in the sixth round. Tulane had two players, Parry Nickerson and Ade Aruna were also taken in the sixth round by the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings respectively.
