77th Annual Sugar Cane Festival Begins Wednesday
It's always a sweet time in New Iberia when the Sugar Cane Festival rolls around. This year's 77th Annual edition of the festival is set to begin on Wednesday and run through Sunday, September 30th.
The festival gets underway with a family ride night on the festival's midway. You can pay just $20 for a wristband and ride all you care to ride. Thursday's events include an Art and Garden show plus entries will be taken for the sugar cane and sugar cookery contests.
There are full days of activities planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the festival. In addition to the cooking, contests, and rides, there will be live music and some very special performances too.
The live music featured at the festival this year includes performances by Wayne Toups, L.A. Roxx, The Boogie Kings, Jamie Bergeron, Chubby Carrier, and others. Admission to the festival is free and most of the activities associated with the festival, except for the carnival rides, are free as well.
