Fall is here, and with it, so many fun festivals here in Louisiana. Sometimes it's hard to choose which ones to go to! We'll try and run down some of our favorites for this weekend below, and yes, we like all of them!

  • Festivals Acadiens et Creoles - October 12 - 15 - Girard Park, Lafayette. This beloved Acadiana event has been going strong since 1974. It incorporates everything we adore about our cajun culture! In addition to six stages for musical entertainment, there is the Bayou Food Fest, and the Louisiana Craft Fair, there is a wonderful children's activities area, and a Cajun Jam tent.
  • World Championship Gumbo Cook Off - October 14 & 15 - Bouligny Plaza, New Iberia. This two day event is for the food lover in all of us. Saturday is the Cajun Creole FoodFest, and Sunday over 100 professional and amateur teams will compete for gumbo championship honors! Tickets for tasting are sold all weekend, and music is provided by Chubby Carrier, and Geno Delafose, among others.
  • Louisiana Cattle Festival and Fair - October 13 - 16 - Abbeville. This is the 69th year for this fun festival in Vermilion Parish. Great local entertainment, the Grand Parade and Children's Parade on Saturday, and a livestock show, carnival, and lots of delicious food booths make this one of our favorites.
  • Zwolle Tamale Festival - October 12 - 14 -  Zwolle Festival grounds. This is the 42nd year for this festival that celebrates Louisiana's rich Indian and Spanish heritage. New this year is the offical Tamale Festival Cookbook, now on sale. Great food and a family friendly atmosphere make this worth the drive
