The Washington Post just ranked all 50 states from smartest to dumbest. The rankings are based on four factors: average IQ scores, SAT scores this year, ACT scores this year and the percentage of college graduates.

The results will come to a shock by virtually no one who has ever paid attention to any of these rankings. Northern states did better than southern states.

(But y'all can go ahead and keep your winters. We'll keep the crawfish and pretty girls.)

The smartest state in the country turns out to be Massachusetts followed by Minnesota, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Wisconsin. Kansas, Vermont, Iowa, New Jersey and Colorado round out the top 10.

As far as the bottom-dwellers go, most will come as no surprise, well, except the "dumbest" state. That distinction goes to Hawaii, which is a bit surprising since they're smart enough to figure out that they can live in paradise and still be part of America.

The rest of the least intelligent states are in order as follows: Nevada, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, West Virginia, Louisiana, North Carolina and Arizona.

So we're #43. Hey, that's an improvement compared to most lists we're on!
