New Year's Eve celebrations will be different from any in recent memory as we finally tell 2020 to "Get Out". However, COVID-19 safety guidelines remain firmly in place, and local ATC officials say they will be keeping a close eye on bars and restaurants to make certain it stays that way.

KLFY.com reports The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office will continue to work with local law enforcement and The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control to make sure  all "COVID-19 safety guidelines are being followed."

Crowded establishments will not be tolerated under any circumstance officials say.

State Fire Marshal’s Office Public Affairs Director Ashley Rodrigue tells KLFY -

"If you love that business, love the people who run it, love the people that you see there and the opportunity that business provides you and able to see other people in a safe environment; then do what’s best for them and do the compliance measures they’re needing to follow."

The extra attention being given is an effort to hopefully stop another COVID-19 surge in Acadiana as 2021 begins.
