Joseph Chambers was arrested over the weekend after he was caught allegedly stealing baby formula from a local store in Duson.

Turns out, according to Duson Police on Facebook, Chambers has been allegedly stealing numerous cans of assorted baby formula along the I-10 corridor - from Baton Rouge to Lake Charles. Sergeant Calvin Francis says he stopped the suspect and recovered 126 total stolen cans.

Here is where Chambers did the right thing, even if it was to avoid going to jail: he paid for then donated the 10 cans he allegedly stole in Duson to Faith House.

The other 116 cans remain in the Duson Police Evidence Room awaiting proof of ownership.

In the Facebook post itself, Sgt. Francis thanks a citizen "for the assistance" and said, "without (yo)ur help I wouldn’t have caught up to him." The citizen responded, "All good, we have to be there for each other."

A summons was issued to Chambers to appear in Duson Magistrate Court in June.
