Tis the season for rip off artist, and the BBB is warning us about a Chase Bank scam we need to be on the look out for.

From the Better Business Bureau press release -

In the latest version of this scam, several callers reported to BBB they received phone calls claiming to be from Chase Bank informing them their immediate attention was needed and to “press 1” on their phone for the ‘security department”.

The automated robo-call informed them their debit or credit card were “blocked” and they needed to confirm the credit card number and pin number to clear up a discrepancy.

Often, these messages will imply or state there will be negative consequences if you don't respond. This is an attempt to scare consumers into providing personal or account information. The ultimate goal of the scam is to steal credit card and personal information to be used for identity theft.

One major thing to remember is never respond to unsolicited requests for personal information in the mail, over the phone or online.
