Blue Bell Creameries late Monday issued a recall of its entire line of products in both the United States and abroad amid concerns they might be contaminated with Listeria.

"We're committed to doing the 100 percent right thing, and the best way to do that is to take all our products off the market until we can be confident that they are all safe," Blue Bell president Paul Kruse wrote in a statement. "We are heartbroken about this situation and apologize to all of our loyal Blue Bell fans and customers. Our entire history has been about making the very best and highest quality ice cream and we intend to fix this problem."

The Blue Bell product line includes ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, and other frozen snacks.

Listeria symptoms include high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to the Centers for Disease Control. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

Blue Bell is urging customers to throw away any products they may already have or return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.
