Body Found in Car at Port Allen Truck Stop, Could Be Missing Lafayette Parish Woman
A body was found inside a car at a truck stop in Port Allen on Sunday morning and it could be that of a missing woman from the Lafayette area.
West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputies found the car and the body inside at Super Lucky Louie's Truck Stop on U.S. 190 around 11:00 am.
Officials did not immediately identify the person but said the vehicle was connected to a missing person case being worked by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
Reports are that the car belongs to Sheila Baker, 55, who was last seen on Christmas Day 2022.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office posted a missing person alert last month seeking the public's assistance in locating Baker.
They said she was last seen leaving the parish heading to Lake Charles to visit family but never arrived. Her vehicle was last spotted near Alexandria.
A cause of death has not been made public by officials, nor was it clear whether any foul play was suspected.
Agencies in both parishes are jointly investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement at (225) 343-9234.
