LaPlace, La. — A 53-year-old truck driver from Tennessee was found dead Thursday, September 17, 2026, inside his truck in the parking lot of the Home Depot in LaPlace, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office.

What the St. John Parish Sheriff's Office Has Released

Deputies were called to conduct a welfare check around 8:40 a.m. after the driver's employer was unable to reach him. Company officials told the sheriff's office that the driver had said he was "not feeling well" on Wednesday, September 16 and had stopped to rest.

The driver was found unresponsive inside the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Identity Withheld of Notification of Family

The sheriff's office says his identity is being withheld until his family is notified. No further information is available at this time.
