Officials in Youngsville say the majority of the work scheduled to be done on Bonin Road has been completed. That means the roadway is now once again open to traffic. Officials with the City of Youngsville released the following statement about the roadway yesterday morning.

Thank you for your patience during this project and a special thanks to the Youngsville Police Department and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s office for helping with traffic control. Striping and clean up will take place this week but can occur with the road open. The contractor will start late mornings and get off the road early afternoon to accommodate heavy traffic hours.

That statement was reported by KATC Television.

The roadway had been closed in mid-October from the roundabout at Bonin Road and Fortune Road headed south to Pegasus Drive, near Youngsville Fire Station 2. Up until Sunday, only local traffic was allowed to proceed through the construction area.

As noted in the statement above from the City of Youngsville motorists could still experience some delays on the roadway as cleanup and striping operations wind down. The statement also noted that the contractor would try to limit those delays to off-peak times for traffic in the area. Motorists are still advised to move through the area with caution and to remain cognizant of workers that might be present.
