A Breaux Bridge bicyclist is dead after a hit-and-run crash near Eunice.

It happened early Sunday morning on U. S. 190 near the Acadian Medical Center, just outside of Eunice city limits.

State troopers say Ryan Fontenot was struck twice. According to investigators, an unknown vehicle hit Fontenot while he was in a turn lane. The impact of that crash sent Fontenot into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The coroner's office says the impact of that crash killed Fontenot, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle didn’t stop. Troopers say evidence left at the scene of the crash lead them to believe that that vehicle is a Ram pickup truck. The vehicle, troopers say, could have damage to the left front bumper, headlight, and fender area.
