Breaux Bridge Teen Hospitalized After Shooting
It was supposed to be prom night in Breaux Bridge. A night of fun, dancing, and memory making with friends from high school. It turned out to be a terrifying night for five teens after shots were fired at the car in which they were riding.
The incident happened early Sunday morning as the teens were leaving a prom after party. According to reports, the 16-year-old girl was struck by a bullet as she was riding in the front seat of the vehicle that was fired upon. The young woman was struck in the arm but the bullet reportedly has lodged near her heart.
The other four passengers in the vehicle were not injured and were able to bring the young girl to a local hospital. The young woman was listed in guarded but stable condition.
Police arrested a former Breaux Bridge High School Student, Peter D. Castille. Castille was placed under arrest and charged with 5 counts of attempted second-degree murder. Police are unclear what the motivation was behind the shooting but their investigation is ongoing.
