Jamie Lynn And Britney Spears’ Dad ‘Almost Died,’ So Pop Singer Scraps Vegas Residency
Jamie Spears — father of pop icon Britney Spears and country singer and actress Jamie Lynn Spears — has suffered a medical emergency that almost killed him. Britney shared some details in announcing her new Las Vegas Residency Domination has been scrapped.
"I don't even know where to start with this," Britney Spears writes on Instagram in a post that was re-grammed on Jamie Lynn's Instagram. "I will not be performing my new show Domination."
Billboard reports that Jamie Spears' colon spontaneously ruptured two months ago, and he spent four weeks recovering from surgery. He's expected to make a full recovery, but Britney wants to be there for him.
"It's important to always put your family first ... and that's the decision I had to make," she writes, stating that her father "almost died."
"We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand," the pop singer adds.
Ticket refund information for Domination is available at Britney Spears' website. The lengthy caption came with a throwback photo of her with both parents.
Jamie Lynn Spears has been writing, recording and releasing country music for about a decade. In 2013 she released the critically-acclaimed "How Could I Want More" from an EP called Journey. She has since penned "I Got the Boy," a hit for Jana Kramer, and released a song called "Sleepover." Personal news has interrupted her country music aspirations, like the time she broke up a knife fight. In 2017 her daughter Maddie was nearly killed in an ATV accident. Most recently it's been positive, with the birth of her second daughter Ivey in April 2018.
