Broussard Fire Dept Water War July 25: Ember's Birthday

BROUSSARD, La. - It's almost physically too hot to do anything outside right now. Thankfully, an outdoor event in one Acadiana town this weekend features lots of water. The Broussard Fire Department (BFD) is hosting Ember's 7th Birthday Party and City-Wide Water War, and you're invited.

Schedule of Events: Ember's Birthday Party and City-Wide Water War

Of course, Ember is the fire department's official Dalmatian "mascot." The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Arceneaux Park in Broussard from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The schedule of events is as follows:

10 a.m. -- Activities Begin: Games, Vendors & Fun
12 p.m. -- Ember's Birthday Celebration: Cake, Treats & Surprises
12:45 p.m. -- Water War Begins: Grab your water guns!

Attractions will include a BFD obstacle course, real fire trucks, a KidStrong workout, and a live kids DJ. Additionally, there will be adoptable pets and fresh fruit popsicles.

What to Bring and What to Expect at the Broussard Water War

Organizers encourage everyone to bring a water gun, a towel, and your pup. Yes, you will have an opportunity to put your skills to the test against the Broussard Fire Department and soak the firefighters.

They will also be collecting soft cat and dog food for local Acadiana animal shelters.

For a lot of us who grew up in Acadiana, there was one day on the school calendar that always stood out...the annual field trip.

It didn't matter if you were headed to a museum, a nature trail, or...anywhere at all really. Climbing onto a school bus with your friends meant you were in for an adventure, and those memories have a way of sticking with you.

We asked you on Facebook to share the school field trips you remember most, and the responses were packed with nostalgia. Some places are still welcoming students today, while other places are sadly no longer in operation.

One destination, however, caught nearly everyone by surprise.
